William Avant, Jr.
Grew up in Conway, SC. Educated in Horry County School system, graduating from Conway High in May 1945. Attended Clemson A&M College (then a military school for boys) for 2 years. Married a local girl and had a family of l daughter and l son. My family now consists of 2 grand children and 1 great grand child. Gained employment in Conway community and retired as a career US Civil Service employee of The National Guard Bureau, US Government's Defense Department. Retired from US Army as a Chief Warrant Officer W3. Received many honors and decorations with the most recent - accepted as an active member & Knighted into "The Military Order of Saint George", a honorary arm of the United States Army Armor and Calvary Association headquartered at Fort Knox, KY .

Member of First United Methodist Church of Conway for past 64 years. Served as past Chairman of Board of Trustees, charter member of John McCutchen Sunday School Class as well as other church committees during my lengthy membership. Presently an active member of Men's Christian Club.
25 years Real Estate experience, accommodating consumer needs in Horry County and surrounding areas of North Carolina and South Carolina. This experience includes occupying positions such as Sales Associate, Broker Associate, on-site Management Broker, Sales Manager, Owner and Broker-in-Charge. During my Real Estate Tenure, have attended many Real Estate courses/schools, too numerous to mention.
Am a member of Coastal Carolina Board of Realtors, having served on the Board of Directors and other committees. Awarded CCAR's Realtor Image Award during 1998 for service rendered to association and community. Am presently serving on the Board's SC Legislative Committee.
Associate member of The Greater Conway Area Chamber of Commerce.
Presently serving as Chairman of Horry County's Salvation Army Advisory Council. Active in Santee Cooper's Advisory Board (electric coop) for Horry/Georgetown counties .
Member Clemson University Athletic Department's IPTAY (Fund Solicitation) for past 53 years and have served on REP Board for past 15 years. Awarded their "Winners Award Certification" for outstanding Leadership and Service to their athletic department.
I have been a member of Rotary Club of Conway since 1972, having attained 100% attendance during this time frame - Elected to office of Secretary/Treasurer 1990 and served continuously for 14 years. I now serve as Assistant Secretary. Past member of Board of Directors. Now serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the Conway Rotary Club's Educational Foundation. During my tenure as a Rotarian, I have received awards such as a Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary Benefactor, Distinguished Service Award, Rotarian of the Year Award (twice) and recognized as a Ten Star Rotarian.
Life Member of National Guard Association of South Carolina. Awarded Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Active Service Medal for 33 years service, National Guard Bureau' Retirement Medal.
